First call home

Image
Our first real P-day had us checking our emails and our phones every 10 minutes all day hoping we would hear from our Clay boy soon.  We were anxious to hear how he was doing. Anxious to know if he was liking it so far.  Anxious just to see his cute face and hear his voice (yes, it's only been 5 days since we last saw him)  The picture says it all.  He is loving it.  I'm not sure if a Mission is supposed to be as fun as he makes it sound??  He said that he has only slept in his apartment 2 nights out of the 5 so far.  They go and stay at other Missionary apartments often.  He said that he has had more sleep overs in this one week than he has in his entire life LOL (I never let my kids do sleepovers)  He hasn't gotten their funds for food yet so he said they are trying to not eat very much to make it last.  He said he had been training for this...did it in wrestling all the time.  Haha! He is in a trio right now.  One of his com...

SEND ME!

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8

2 years? Really?

Well the time has come to send our sweet boy off serve Minnesota. I know this is where is supposed to be and I know that he will learn more in these 2 years than what he would learn here in 10 years.   I know this is an experience that he will never forget and I know that he will touch so many people's lives there because he has already touched so many around here.  Especially his very own family. I hope he knows how proud we are of him.  I have always encouraged my kids to follow their own path and do what they truly want to do.  Clay has always talked about a Mission. I'm glad he stayed true to himself.      Last family picture for the next 2 years.  Clay got to Fly out with one of his MTC companions - Micheal Robison Got the best text ever at the end of the day: "We are happy to let you know that your son arrived safely in Minneapolis.  We are thrilled to have him serve and look forward to many miracles in this great labor of love. Packed and ready

Well...I guess we are really doing this huh?? I must say the HARDEST part of being a mom is when it’s time for them to leave home. Although they are doing exactly what we’ve raised them to do. Following their own hearts, in pursuit of their dreams & happiness!

Goodbye to friends

July 19, 2020 - The Sunday before Clay left, we had a little get together for friends to come over and say goodbye for 2 years.  We had a great turn out, but unfortunately I didn't get pictures of everyone.  Thank you so much for the outpouring of love and support we have felt.    Clay's cousin Mason Clay's cousins and best friends his whole life - Tanner & Avery Clay's friends Shawn, Chase and Garrett Our neighbor and friend Geri Grandma Debbie Johnson Family Jace & Clay's Friend Josh Powell Uncle Kui

At Home MTC

Image
The MTC was done at home through emails and zoom meetings.   Clay was lucky enough to get 2 companions Elder Michael Robison (left) and Elder Kameron Johnson (right).  Because of these two young men, Clay enjoyed his MTC SO MUCH!  They had so much fun learning, talking, and laughing together.  Clay says that when he gets off his mission, they are going to create a boy band together.  LOL Below is a picture of the Brother & Sister Missionaries in Clay's district Right where the magic happened...in his own bedroom.  And he loved every minute of it.

Setting Apart

Image
Clay was set apart as a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints June 30, 2020 His Blessing was by our Stake President, President Hancock.  His blessing was very spiritual, and comforting.  Who knew these things were so dang special.   Clay starts his Mission Training at home July 1st, 2020 online because of the pandemic Covid-19, where the MTC is completely closed.   There is something so humbling and awesome when you see you child put a badge on his chest with his name on it, and right below it, our Savior's name, Jesus Christ.  It is a constant reminder of who we need to remember and strive to be like.

My First Email

I'm gonna apologize at the beginning because I ain't that good at writing emails but at least i'm writing them right? I just gotta say that this MTC experience is awesome!! At first I didn't know how it was going to be doing it all online. But for me it has probably been the best case scenario. I got awesome companions in Elder Robison And Elder Johnson. Our companionship is the best thing ever. We are always laughing. But when we teach people we are able to let the spirit in and help us teach. We have a lot of fun messing around and we also have a lot of fun teaching the gospel. And I don't think we could do that with just two of us at this point. Me and Elder Johnson are the goof balls of the group and we like to call Elder Robison the mom of the group because even though he joins in on the fun He always brings us back so we can plan and learn about the gospel. I Love my Companions I Love the MTC I Love the Gospel And I Love and miss all you guys  Lo...
