Week 10

Image
This is a picture of some of the Missionaries in Clay's District.    They had District meeting this week.  He said it's pretty much like a 5 hour Sacrament Meeting.  These are good, especially for these missionaries that might be feeling down because they can't do much.  This is just a screen shot of when we got to talk to Clay this week.  We were over helping Jace and Kenzie with their house, so I took him on a tour of their new home so he could see it then we finished up talking in the car so we could hear him.  The zoo crew is what we will call this picture.  These are the Missionaries that go help serve at the zoo every Thursday.  It's basically the highlight of their week these days.   Clay said this week was a little better, not as boring as last week.  He was able to do 4 lessons instead of 3 this week, but he was excited to tell us that they have 7 planned for next week.   I believe it's this zoo crew here tha...

Week 9 - No more sleep overs

Clay still remains in super good spirits but said that this past week was REALLY boring.  They were only able to get 3 lessons in and the only service project they had was their weekly visit to the zoo.  Which by the way, is just like Willow park for all of you that are from Cache Valley.  So not really a zoo, but more of a place where they keep some local wildlife.   He also said it was extra boring because they just put a stop to the missionaries sleeping over at each other's apartments.   He said that means they can't really hang out with the other missionaries as much because they won't have enough gas.   I get both side of this. I get that they want the missionaries to focus on the work, but I also get that we are in the middle of a pandemic (in which they are super strict there) and they really don't have much to do.  They can only study and listen to talks so much.  He said that they literally sent a text to every single memb...

Week 8

Clay gets to go out and do service at the local zoo every Thursday. This past Thursday he took a selfie with a bear! :-) Clay convinced and was the first out of 7 to shave their hair this week. The week was very slow this with not much going on, Clay said the week drug on and with not much to do.  He requested that I send over some board games for them to play.  He got his date to go through the temple, I believe he said October 19th Clay is missing is senior companion Elder Leatham that completed his mission and went home already.  He said that he was the one that planned everything and kept them busy.   His spirits are good and even though it's so slow, he still loves being on a mission.  I hear that there are many missionaries really struggling right now because of how restricted they are, stuck in their apartment.  I know they would give anything to just do something.  Please pray for them.  Have them come over to do ANY service that you ...

Week 7 - Modern Army of Helamen

Image
We received this letter from Clay's mission president  on September 4th, 2020 We are thrilled with the news that the St. Paul Temple will start “phase 2” on Monday, September 7.  This means that almost 60 of our missionaries will have the opportunity to receive the endowment.  We are beginning to make a schedule for “missionary” temple sessions that will take place over the next 8-12 weeks.  This will be a complicated process as we work around missionary-related efforts—zone/district conferences, interviews, service, finding, and teaching.  We will also need to work out some logistics   before   our missionaries receive the endowment.  For example, they need to have garments as we do not have a distribution center in Minnesota.  They will NOT need their own temple clothing as the Temple will be able to accommodate   missionary   needs.   Some of our missionaries have asked if their parents would be able to attend the templ...

Week 6

The famous China Hat, that Clay found and has all the missionaries he meets sign it.  He said this is a picture of all of them ready to go out of the town. LOL  Looking good!  On of their weekly service projects, working at the local zoo.
