First call home
Our first real P-day had us checking our emails and our phones every 10 minutes all day hoping we would hear from our Clay boy soon. We were anxious to hear how he was doing. Anxious to know if he was liking it so far. Anxious just to see his cute face and hear his voice (yes, it's only been 5 days since we last saw him) The picture says it all. He is loving it. I'm not sure if a Mission is supposed to be as fun as he makes it sound??
He said that he has only slept in his apartment 2 nights out of the 5 so far. They go and stay at other Missionary apartments often. He said that he has had more sleep overs in this one week than he has in his entire life LOL (I never let my kids do sleepovers)
He hasn't gotten their funds for food yet so he said they are trying to not eat very much to make it last. He said he had been training for this...did it in wrestling all the time. Haha!
He is in a trio right now. One of his companion's is almost done. This was his last transfer. I think he said this one is from Utah and his last name is Leatham?? The other companion has been out for about a year.
They have had appointments, meeting with members. They are able to do this as long as it is outside and they don't go inside their homes.
He is staying in a town right out of Rochester (I can't remember what it was called) He said it's just corn fields every where.
It's about 85 degrees there right now but super humid so it feels hotter.
He only met his Mission President for about 5 seconds at the airport right before he met up with his companions and they left. He doesn't know when he will meet up with him again. Hopefully soon!
When Clay arrived, it was an all time record of Missionaries coming to the MMM (Minnesota Minneapolis Mission) There were between 40-45 Missionaries that arrived that day. They also have a new Mission President. He only arrived at the end of June I think. It must feel super overwhelming.
I feel like this is the Lords plan. There must be a reason why the United States is getting saturated with Missionaries right now. (none of them can go internationally right now) By the time this is over, probably every person in the USA will have hear about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints one way or another. Most likely by a young boy or girl serving a mission because they will be everywhere, serving, talking, helping, and being Christ hands.
Lastly, sorry Clay didn't write an email. He said that he hasn't fully figured out his new phone. He also said all his contacts he put in for emails, he doesn't have access to?? Hopefully an email will go out next week??
